Washable Diapers Grants

The grant is designed to encourage families to minimize waste and use cloth diapers.

Grant amount

The Township of Alfred and Plantagenet offers 5 grants of $200 each year.

Eligibility

  • Must have a child of less than 6 months old or be pregnant as of January 1st.
  • Be a resident of the Township of Alfred and Plantagenet.
  • Use cloth diapers from birth to potty training.
  • Sign up before December 31 of the current year.
  • Submit documentation in the first six months after the birth.
  • Purchase a minimum of 20 cloth diapers within the calendar year.

Mandatory Documents 

  • Complete and submit the application form and agreement contract.
  • Proof of residence (Tax account, hydro bill, lease, etc.)
  • Original invoice for the purchase of a minimum of twenty (20) cloth diapers.
  • Child's birth certificate. If you are pregnant, you may submit this at a later date.

Community Events Grants

This grant is intended to support events and activities in the Township.

The application period for the 2025 grants begins on September 1, 2024 and ends on October 31, 2024.

Grant amount

  • The maximum grant is $3,000, non-refundable.The amount of the municipal grant may not exceed 25% of the total budget for the event.
  • An applicant may receive an additional in-kind contribution of up to $500.

Eligibility

  • Only a community group is eligible for funding.
  • A community group may submit only one grant application per year. 
  • The proposed event must take place within the territory of the Township of Alfred and Plantagenet, be open to the public, inclusive of all, and align with the mission, vision and corporate values of the municipality.
  • Only the following categories of events are eligible for funding
    • Arts, culture and heritage
    • Community and special events
    • Tourism and economic development

Application Assessment

Applications will be reviewed and evaluated according to the following criteria:

  • 30% Organizational capacity of the recipient (previous experience, organizational structure, logistics plan, number of volunteers)
  • 30%: Quality of the event (number of people expected to attend, community partnerships, visibility of the Township)
  • 30%: Recipient's financial capacity (realistic budget, amount requested does not exceed the operational threshold of 25%, diversified funding sources)
  • 10% Economic benefits (economic, tourism, community, artistic legacies)
