The Township of Alfred and Plantagenet has invested in the creation of over 3 km of trails for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in winter, as well as a walking/hiking trails in the summer.
Dogs on leash are permitted ONLY on hiking trails, however owners must pick up after their pets. Dogs are not permitted without a leash.
The trails are open to all from 5:00 am to 10:00 pm and do not require a pass.
We ask that all users show respect for our beautiful territory and refrain from littering. As the trails are still new, garbage and recycling bins have not yet been installed. Please be conscious of proper winter trail etiquette, to preserve the beauty of the area for all visitors.
Parking is currently available at Larocque Park and at the Alfred Water Tower at no cost.
Please note that there are public washrooms at the Larocque Park community center, and chemical toilet both outside the community centre and by the Alfred water tower. We are looking to improve the space with benches and more picnic tables over time.
The trail starts and ends at the pavilion in Larocque Park. You may consult the image of the trail map below.
The cross-country skiing trails are identified on the map below in blue, the snowshoeing and hiking trails are identified in green, and the shared trails (cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking) are identified in yellow.
