NEW—WASTE AND RECYCLING COLLECTION

Effective April 18, 2022, the Township will strictly enforce By-law 2020-36 which allows each residential unit to dispose of a maximum of 120 litres of household garbage per week in the municipally provided garbage bin. Any excess bag must be clearly tagged and weigh less than 30 lbs. Excess bags that are not tagged, or any items deemed unacceptable will no longer be collected.

The same applies to recycling collection. Although there is no maximum amount of recycling allowed, there are certain guidelines that must be followed, and the municipality reserves the right not to collect recycling that is deemed non-compliant.

NEW—E-billing Option for Water and Sewer Services

As of January 2022, the Township now offers an electronic billing option to citizens for water and sewer services. Visit our fill out and email the form on our webpage to register.

Important Dates—Hazardous Waste and Spring Garbage Collection

The annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2022, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. at the Township of Alfred and Plantagenet Town Hall (205 Old Highway 17 in Plantagenet). This service is free to citizens. Proof of residency will be required.

The annual Spring Garbage Collection will take place the week of May 9–13, 2022 and will be on the same day as your regular garbage and recycling collection schedule. Your large garbage cannot be placed at the curb more than 48 hours prior to the scheduled collection date.
